Hello World
Hey. I'm Evgeny Oshchepkov.
I build web products where engineering and product collide - public APIs, developer experience, performance, and the parts of shipping that don't make it into the case study. Ten-plus years of it, currently from Vienna.
Originally from Aktau, Kazakhstan, which is a desert city that exists because of a nuclear reactor. I moved to Saint Petersburg at 18 for engineering school and worked my way west from there. Longer version: From Aktau to Vienna.
Outside work I make music, mostly self-taught since I was 15, and that's where I learned to be comfortable shipping ugly drafts. It transferred better than anything I studied formally.
Day to day I'm usually somewhere in SDK work, AI integrations that have to survive real users and real data, mentoring and code review, or performance. This blog covers roughly the same ground: TypeScript and React architecture, shipping AI features that aren't demos, migration playbooks including the human half, and developer tooling. Some music and aviation too, because it's my site.
